Lights, Camera, Action!
This month marks the official start of TLRC’s webinar series for 2022. With the threat of COVID-19 still around us, webinars have been our alternative for conducting training and seminars. This year’s line-up of webinars under the TLRC Teaching in the New Normal Training Series is expected to run until November or December this year, depending on the speaker’s availability. To hype our viewers, we modified our format to make the webinars livelier and more engaging.
Module Creation Project
The Course Module Creation Project officially commenced this month. The module writers have all submitted their necessary documentary requirements. These documents are checked by the HRDO before they are submitted to the Office of the Chancellor for approval.
PRs for the Module Creation Project
The Supplemental PPMP for the project was approved by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration after endorsement by the Budget Office. The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs issued a memorandum to the UP Constituent Units to provide advance funding for the project since the DBM would only release the budget once the project is fully completed. Needed PRs are already submitted and approved.
OASH Project Collaboration
The Office of the Anti-Sexual Harassment invited the TLRC to collaborate in their project, in connection with the celebration of the International Girls in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day 2022. This year’s theme, Access and Safety, started with a launch last April 22, 2022, and the official start of the event last April 28, 2022, with the blasting of the e-Kit to all the UPC community.
OCA Inspection of TLRC
The Office of the Campus Architect (OCA) has visited the TLRC office on April 29, 2022, for an ocular inspection. The ceiling of the basement leading to the comfort room sustained damages during typhoon Odette. The damage was already reported to the Campus Maintenance Office (CMO). The inspection was initiated by CMO so that the repair request will be included in next year’s funding.
Talk to the Expert
The Research Ethics for Teachers and Students webinar is a rerun of last year’s webinar of the same title, which was cut short at the question-and-answer portion due to an internet connectivity problem encountered by the hosts. Nevertheless, that was the most celebrated webinar of UP Cebu TLRC in 2021.
This year, we started the TLRC webinar series with the rerun of the said webinar, that attracted 4,511 registrants from all over the country, and attended by 1,465 total participants. Due to the massive turnout of registrants, we requested through the Information Technology Center to use UP Cebu webinar account with 3000 participants capacity.
The webinar focuses on ethics as a foundational principle of modern research across all disciplines, that includes integrity, human rights, and dignity of the research subject. These principles make sure that participation in studies is voluntary, informed, and safe.
The webinar started at 1:00 PM and ended at 3:40 PM. Ms. Jerah served as the host of the webinar with Prof. Magnolia Laus as the resource speaker.
