January 2022

Bring it on, 2022!

We have not fully recovered yet from the challenges brought about by the pandemic, we have faced another major obstruction in delivering our mandate to our constituents and the public, the aftermath of Typhoon Odette. By the end of 2021, we are all expecting that everything will slowly back to normalcy in face-to-face classes. Due to the typhoon, more challenges came along, no power supply and internet connection on the campus, and many of our staff houses have been affected. What else to say, bring it on 2022. We will strive and continue with our mandate, whatever the circumstances are.

Programs for 2022

As the entire city and province are not yet fully energized, our conduct of public extension programs and webinars are put on hold. Everyone, including our staff, is still coping with the effect of the typhoon. We are also considering the availability of our speakers as most of them have other major functions especially in reaching out to our typhoon-hit students and stakeholders.

Temporary Workstation

The campus itself is not fully energized, we at the TLRC and the rest from the Undergraduate Building are temporarily using the Board Room in the Administration Building as the new workstation. Wi-Fi is running from 9 AM to 4 PM. With the limited capacity and availability of equipment, everyone is coping with the challenges daily.

PBB Survey

In compliance with the Office of the Vice President for Planning and Finance (OVPPF) and Office of the Vice President for Administration (OVPA) Joint Memorandum No. 2022-01 regarding the conduct of the PBB 2021: Citizen/Client Satisfaction Survey (CCSS), we have sent the survey link to our clients and stakeholders for the completion of the said activity.

New Domain Address

On a positive note, our VLE got a new domain address. To comply with the approved domain address with the Intellectual Property Office, we have changed our domain address from vle.upcebu.edu.ph to uvec.upcebu.edu.ph. The name UVEC, as suggested by Chancellor Corro, is CEBU in reverse with the letter V.

Temporary Workstation

The Boardroom at the Administration Building also sustains minor damages due to Typhoon Odette. Even in its damaged state, it is still in a good condition to be used as a workstation at this time.

UP-wide Coordination Services

To inform the UPC community about the latest offerings from other UP Constituents and affiliated offices and organizations, we are closely monitoring their email invitations and Facebook page so that we can share with everyone any activities and learning opportunities, not just for the students, but also for our staff and teachers.
